Welcome to Stereo Zoom Microscope
Welcome to Stereo Zoom Microscope website and internet store where you have found your source for high quality bargain priced stereoscopic microscopy equipment. A stereo microscope has two objectives that view the specimen. These work totally independently, and the image from each independent light path converges in the eyepieces to produce the 3D stereoscopic view. The stereo zoom microscope is of great value in a variety of applications such as circuit board repair, circuit board inspection, surface mount technology work, electronics inspection, coin collecting, gemology and gemstone setting, engraving, and repair and inspection of small parts. The stereo zoom microscope can be either on an upright lighted base or on a boom stand.
Upright bases are good because they often have upper halogen incident reflected illumination as well as bottom transmitted light. Boom stands generally use fluorescent ring lights or sometimes fiber optic ring illuminators mounted under the microscope head to provide even illumination on the working area. A boom mounted stereo microscope also has more working area than an upright stereoscopic microscope. Some boom stands are rather simple microscopes and some are more complex with articulating boom arms for the microscope head to be able to swing into place or retract out of the working area. Stereo microscopes can come as either fixed magnification or as zooms. The zooms are the best as they give a continuously variable magnification through the full zoom range with the simple turning of the zoom knob. Fixed magnifications give only one or sometimes two fixed magnifications, with no option of viewing magnifications in between.
Although the cost is less for fixed magnification types, a zoom stereo microscope is the best investment considering the ease of operation. A stereo zoom microscope is considered a low power microscope because magnifications typically don’t go over about 45x. With the addition of 20x eyepiece sets and auxillary barlow lens, a stereo microscope can go up to 90x, 112x, and sometimes higher. However, it becomes harder to see as the magnification increases. Focusing becomes harder and more light is required as the magnification increases. Some stereoscopic zoom microscopes are high ratio zooms, meaning that they have a large range of zoom. A cheap zoom microscope may go from 7.5x to 35x. More expensive zoom microscopes may go 7.5 to 45x. Some of the high ratio zoom microscopes go 6.5 to 65x, with the use of 10x eyepieces.
The magnification is doubled using 20x eyepiece sets instead of the standard 10x. Reticles can be mounted into the eyepiece of a stereo zoom microscope so measurements of specimens can be taken. Stereo zoom microscopes come as binocular and trinocular versions. They never come as monocular versions like a compound light microscope can. If a low power microscope has only one eyepiece, then it cannot be a stereo as the stereoscopic effect from the two independent eyepaths would not be present. A binocular microscope has two eyepieces. A trinocular microscope has the two viewing eyepieces with the added photography - video port for attaching cameras and digital image capture equipment. If you need to capture digital jpg images of your microscopic specimens, we can provide you a wide selection of USB computer connected microscope cameras. The cameras can capture jpg digital images as well as provide real time full motion video on a computer.
To get real time video on a cctv monitor or normal tv monitor, you would need a ccd video camera, which we also can provide. If you are in need of a stereo zoom microscope, please check out our online store, then contact us for a recommendation. There are a number of types of stereo microscopes with varying capabilities and prices. Our microscope specialists can assist you to find the right optical equipment for your needs.
